William Surly and the Barroom Gospel Band

as Travis Tritt!

William Surly is a singer/songwriter who saddles his horse (metaphorically speaking) in Portland, Oregon, and is no stranger to the western cocktail. Within his music he mixes classic country with outlaw, honky tonk, a dash of folk, some rock, soul and a whole lot of tequila.

Inspired by story tellers of the Outlaw and Folk movements of the 60s and 70s and rejuvenated by the modern sounds of Sturgil Simpson, Margo Price, Mike and The Moonpies, Nikki Lane and more Surly pays homage to the ones who came before him, singing songs for those best suited for a long running bar tab.

Best known for his roll in The Lonesome Billies, who have shared the stage with nationally touring acts such as Pokey Lafarge, Hooray For The Riff Raff, Blitzen Trapper and Nikki Lane, William Surly has been in and around the Portland music scene for many years.

The Mawlee Jones Band

as Garth Brooks!

They sure know how to ride!

Reverberating raunchy tonk from the Pacific Northwest, The Mawlee Jones Band is rounding up delinquents with hootin’, tootin’, out-ball-country. This band of bizarre bandits have a twangy, swamp-witch sound that is punishably good— from belly-aching ballads to fruity cowboy rendezvous tales, they’re confessing the reality of backwoods queer love and eroticism.

The Origins Story of Mawlee Jones…

A gay adolescent is trapped in a conservative town called Bumfuck, Montana. Life as they know it is round-the-clock bigotry, fashion-crimes, and cow-tipping— The horror! They become tired of this mundanity, and long to not only take life by the balls, but slap them….maybe kiss them a little too? Mawlee Jones pulls themselves up by the hand-me-down bootstraps, and seizes the opportunity to find their tune. They journey through foreign land and vast country sky all by their lonesome, on the search for a new life. They face prejudice, heartbreak, and uncertainty; yet, they stop at nothing to reclaim their sovereignty…

Darn tootin’, Mawlee Jones is a concept— representing the trials and tribulations of the journey towards authenticity; they simultaneously navigate their fluid, complex internal landscape and the external trek, seeking the right environment to live and love freely.

Written and performed by the queers, for the queers.

Rose Gerber

as Randy Travis!

Known for the unique juxtaposition of her wry wit and ability to pen a heartbreaking ballad, Rose Gerber has been a fixture in the Portland, OR music scene where she’s honed her signature sound of rock meets country. Her songs are a melting pot of essential American sounds, bringing a high lonesome rock vibe to the familiar sound of the pedal steel whine. Think Natalie Merchant-fronts-The Cardinals.

Some might also hear hints of Gillian Welch, or Patty Griffin in her voice and songwriting. Both have also been described as poignant, haunting, and soulful. Her songs bare it all and hit home, giving the listener a dose of catharsis.

Jesco Payne & The Painkillers

Raised in the mountains of Southeast Kentucky, Jesco Payne grew up with a soundtrack of punk rock, outlaw country, pentecostal hymns, and honky tonk. Now settled in the mighty Pacific Northwest, Jesco takes influence from his Appalachian roots to sing songs that long for home, mourn lost love and glamorize the occasional rough and rowdy time. Jesco Payne & The Painkillers deliver cathartic country music that pays homage to the pioneers of honky tonk and outlaw country.
