Portland, Oregon band Love Hiss is a time capsule of infectiously catchy 90’s-esque Indie rock in the mold of The Breeders, Pixies, Archers of Loaf, and Sebadoh. Love Hiss is the songwriting vehicle for Richard Marshall, formerly of legendary Alternative Tentacles freak-rock band Alice Donut (with whom he co-wrote the acclaimed albums The Untidy Suicides of Your Degenerate Children and Pure Acid Park).
Love Hiss’s debut album 'Hello Comrade!' was released in September of 2023.
Blending thoughtful songcraft with a Gen X insouciance, 'Hello Comrade!' melds themes of millennial cults, lost love, and existential angst with guitar-driven ear candy hooks. Marshall (lead vocals/guitar) recorded the album alone in his practice space during the pandemic and then reached out to local Portland musicians Matt Gannon (Lord Master) on bass, Brooke Bina (The Silos) on guitar/vocals and Lukas Schneider (Neuma, New York Kids) on drums to bring the party to the people. Love Hiss is currently performing at venues in the Pacific Northwest.
